LINDEN—Truman J. Franklin, 55-year-old carpenter, died at 8:20 p. m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. He had been hospitalized 10 days and in failing health six months. Born July 12, 1904, at Kentland, he was a son of Ocey and Alice Shilt Franklin. He was married June 6, 1925, at Kentland, to Wanetta Dearduff. Mr. Franklin had lived the past nine years in Linden. He was a member of the Darlington Congregational Christian Church, Linden Masonic Lodge No. 697 and OES No. 244. He also was a member of the Low Twelve Club of Lafayette. Surviving are the wife; his mother, Mrs. Alice Franklin of Kentland; two sons, Richard of Morocco and Duaine of Lake Village; two daughters, Nancy and Sally, both at home; a brother, Ocey of Kentland; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Troup of Goodland, Mrs. Crystal Anderson of Brook and Mrs. Margaret Williams of Hammond; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral rites are set for 1 p. m. Friday at Helms Funeral Home here with Rev. John Simpson pastor of the Darlington Congregational Christian Church, in charge. Graveside rites will be conducted at the Prairie View Cemetery at Ade by Linden Masonic Lodge. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p. m. Thursday.
