The Funeral Services Thomas. J. Francis died on July 31, 1894, at 4 o'clock p. m. The deceased was one of our best known citizens, and was born at Boone Creek, Clark county, Kentucky, May 25, 1814. He emigrated to this State with his mother, two sisters and one brother, when but a boy and settled in Lawrence county. His father died when he was quite small, and of the five that came to this State, he was the last one to pass away. When a boy Mr. Francis carried the mail on horse back from Vincennes to Indianapolis. He learned the blacksmith trade and carried on that business successfully at Bedford and Bloomington until 1867, at which time he moved to this city, where he engaged in the same business until old age and feeble health caused him to retire. He was a man of strong constitution and notwithstanding his old age has fought a hard battle with that dreaded enemy, the grip, to which he was finally compelled to surrender. The funeral services were held on Wednesday conducted by Rev. G. P. Fuson. The pall-bearers were: C. W. Eltzroth, Loren Miller, J. V. Keeran, Hence Coleman, Wm. Enoch and Joshua McKinsey. Interment was made at Oak Hill. - thanks to Kim H

In the death of TJ Francis, at his residence on Lafayette Avenue Tuesday afternoon, the city loses another of its old and highly respected citizens. He was 80 years of age the 25 of last May, having been born in Clark County, KY. He had been a resident of Crawfordsville since 1867 and continued his trade, that of a blacksmith for 15 years. His trade gave him a large acquaintance throughout the county. He was possessed of a rugged constitution that only succumbed to a long seize of LaGrippe. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. GP Fuson - kbz
