Mrs. Mannette Wolfe Fox, wife of the Rev. Frank M. Fox, pastor of the Third Presbyterian church of this city, died Wednesday afternoon at 12:25 o'clock at the Lutheran hospital, of acute nephritis, at the age of thirty-three years. Her death followed an illness of about four weeks' duration. The Rev. and Mrs. Fox resided at 115 East Pontiac street. About a week ago the patient was removed to the hospital and in spite of the utmost skill of her physicians and the best possible care of her attendants, the patient declined rapidly, and the end came peacefully Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Fox was born at Crawfordsville, Ind., November 28, 1872. She came to Fort Wayne last June, when Rev. Fox received a call as pastor of the Third Presbyterian church of this city. Mrs. Fox, herself a most earnest and devoted church worker, looked forward to a singularly happy and successful work in Fort Wayne, but her future plans and calculations were marred by her sudden fatal illness. Through living in Fort Wayne but a short time, Mrs. Fox had already endeared herself to a very large number of people in religious as well as social circles, and the sorrow at her early demise is profound. In addition to the grief-stricken young husband, Mrs. Fox is survived by her mother, and two sisters, the former being at present in Zanesville, Ohio, the guest of her daughter. A brother, Arthur Wolfe, resides at St. Louis.
The remains were removed from the hospital yesterday afternoon to the home at 115 East Pontiac Street – thanks so much to Kim H for this one.
