Orion, Ill - Claude J. Fouts, 70, who resided 1/2 mile north of Elmdale, died at 4 p.m. sunday in Orion, Ill about an hour after arriving to visit his son, Dale. Born Sept 28 1895 near Elmdale, he was a son of Joseph and Cora Ann Cord Fouts. He was married to Retta May Eads on May 30, 1917 at Waynetown. He attended Montgomery County schools at Elmdale and Wingate. Mr. Fouts was a farmer and had lived in Montgomery County since his marriage. He was a member of the Elmdale Methodist Church and was a veteran of WWI. Survivors include the widow; a son Dale of Orion; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Sunderman of Ft. Wayne and Mrs. Leonard Shermer of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Ilah Pearson of Lafayette; a brother, Roscoe C. Fouts of Crawfordville and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers. Bright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Robert R. James, pastor of the Elmdale Methodist Church, and Rev. Guy E. Tremaine will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.
