Mahala Oliver Magill was born in Franklin County Kentucky Feb 1, 1821; was married to Samuel Forgey near Portland Mills in Parke County, Indiana Dec 17, 1840. She died Jan 19, 1883 at 3:45 a.m. aged 61 years 11 months 18 days. Her last sickness was of short duration. She anxiously hoped that her children, brother and sister, who reside in the west might reach her while she was yet able to talk with them. This privilege was granted her. They came before her death. She requested of her husband that he continue to live an exemplary life and as heretofore that he be true to his children and to meet her in heaven and not to weep for her as his loss would be her eternal gain. Her last advice to her children was full of tenderness and affection, earnestly asking that they should meet her in Heaven. Her end was full of peace and triumph. She was interred in the Masonic Cemetery in this city. Suitable religious services were conducted at her late residence by Rev. GW Stafford. – kbz
