Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Saturday, 13 June 1874
A son, aged eighteen, of Thomas A. Ford, residing at Pond Grove near Otterbein Station, was struck by lightning during the storm evening before last, and instantly killed. He was at work in a field rolling corn ground, driving a pair of horses, when the fatal shaft took place. His two younger brothers were also at work in the field, but they escaped unharmed, as did the horses he was driving.--Lafayette Journal
