God in His Wisdom has called home another son, Harlow Hubert Ford, who passed away Sunday morning Oct 8, 1939, at 7:10 at Culver Hospital after an illness of about two weeks. In his service record, Harlow's excellence as a soldier and his good character were attested to by his commanding officers. Enlisting at the age of 28 years at Ft. Dodge, Iowa, he was later in training at Camp Lee, VA before going overseas with Co. H, 2nd Battallion, 16th Inf. AEF. he participated in several major actions, including the battle of the Meuse Argonne and received numerous citations, including a bronze star for conduct under fire in the Argonne. But he is not dead but asleep and some day,
we shall meet again on that shore, ne'er to part no more.
This earthly life is but a dream Compared to that Heavenly goal
Forever we shall live with Him Who for God has redeemed my soul
In that glorious heavenly sunshine From earthly troubles and cares free
In that happy state and sublime, O Lord, our Creator, take my soul to Thee

The county is to have a rare thing, a murder trial. On Oct 4 Edison W. BRATTON says he found Harlow FORD in his corn field and thinking him to be a thief, fired on him six times with a pistol inflicting wounds that resulted in death. The grand jury returned a verdict of voluntary murder against Bratton. -- kbz
