John A. Foley, aged 80 years, a well known and highly respected farmer of this township, passed away at his home near Wingate at nine o’clock Thursday morning after an illness of two years. Mr. Foley had been partially paralyzed for more than a year and bad lost the sight of both eyes. The immediate cause of his death was heart trouble. On Thursday morning at about eight o’clock he complained of pains due to indigestion. A physician was called and attended him, but he died a few minutes after the departure of the doctor. The deceased was born in Ireland in 1832. He was married in 1871,to Bride Coleman, who preceded him to the grave by several years. Mr. Foley came to this country many years ago and has lived in Coal Creek township for fifty years. Five sons, M. E. Foley, of Indianapolis and A. N. Foley of Crawfordsville both prominent attorneys and James, William and Charles Foley, all of whom have been living on the farm with their father. Mr. Foley was always a successful farmer. In politics he was an active Democrat and always figured conspicuously in the work of that party. The funeral services were held from St Bernard’s church in Crawfordsville Saturday morning at nine o’clock. Interment was made at Calvary cemetery. – kbz
