Andrew N. Foley, 85, prominent as an attorney here for more than 50 years, died at 10 p.m. Sunday at the Ben Hur Nursing Home where he had been a patient for a year. Mr. Foley began the practice of law at Covington with Nelson White in 1907. Two years later, he came to Crawfordsville and was associated for many years with the late Judge Albert Thomas. In 1925, he was joined by his son, Bernard, with the firm name of Foley & Foley. This partnership was continued until the death of the son in 1948. In recent years, Mr. Foley had been associated with John Berry in the firm of Foley & Berry, with offices in the Ben Bur Building. Mr. Foley was born Nov. 19, 1877, in Coal Creek Township, the son of John and Bridget Coleman Foley. He was married to Mayme Crane, who preceded him in death by many years. For several years, Mr. Foley taught school in Coal Creek Township. He later attended the Benjamin Harrison Law School prior to starting his law practice at Covington. Mr. Foley was active in many community organizations. He was a charter member of the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club and served the organization in many capacities over the years. He also was a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the Indiana Bar Association and the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. He was a devout member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Rosary Society of the church. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bernard Foley, with whom he had made his home for many years; two granddaughters, Mrs. Mary Foley Cooper of Park Forest, Ill., and Mrs. Anne Foley Klimek of South Bend, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to the son and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gladys. Four brothers also preceded him in death. They were Michael E. Foley, James Foley, Charles Foley and William Foley. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Henry F. Ward in charge. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may call at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Crawfordsville, Ind – Services for Andrew N. Foley, 85, attorney and civic leader will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  A practicing attorney for more than 50 years, Mr. Foley died yesterday in a Crawfordsville nursing home after being ill several months.  Mr. Foley taught in Coal Creek schools as a young man and later was a student at the former Benjamin Harrison School of Law in Indianapolis. At the time of his death was senior member of the law firm of Foley, Foley & Berry.  Mr. Foley was a member of St. Bernard’s Church, Kiwanis, the Montgomery County and Indiana Bar Associations, Chamber of Commerce and Knights of Columbus. Survivors include a daughter, Helen with whom he had lived in recent years, two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. – kbz

Note: Born 19 Nov 1877 died 28 April 1963 son of John A. and Bridget Coleman Foley.  Brothers were James Edward; William L; Charles Matthew and possibly more.
