Waynetown -John William Fletcher, 72, of Rt 6, Crawfordsville died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Culver Hospital where he had been admitted two hours before. He had been seriouly ill since December. Born Feb 9, 1894, at Ridge Farm, Ill, he was a son of James P. and Martha E. Ankrum Fletcher. He married Mary Outland March 2, 1915 at Georgetown Ill. He had moved to Indiana from Illinois in 1931 and had lived in his present home about 5 miles northeast of Waynetown since 1941. He was a member of the Elmdale Methodist Church. Mr. Fletcher had been a farmer most of his life. He received his education in RIdge Farm and had served as assessor there for four years. After retiring from farming work he had been employed part-time at the Montgomery Ward Store in Crawfordsville for 9 years. Survivors include the widow; a son, Zane S. Fletcher of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Lee Hoernke of Grisham, Wis; six grandchilren; a great grandson and two sisters, Mrs. Allie Baldwin of Danville, Ill and Mrs. Anna Lee Weathers of Newman, ill. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, Rev. Rob James of the Elmdale Church will officiate. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
