MACE- William N. Fitzwater, 73, long-time resident of Mace, died Tuesday morning at 8:10 in the Veteran's Hospital in Indianapolis. He had been ill for several months prior to his death. Mr. Fitzwater had been a mechanic and done farming the Mace area and had been employed at the R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. before retiring in 1956. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War I. Born July 31, 1890, in Nicholas County, West Virginia, Mr. Fitzwater was the son of Newton T. and Mary Margaret Bales Fitzwater. In April, 1919, he had married Charlotte Bearkley at Edinburg, Scotland. Mr. Fitzwater was preceded in death by a son and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, Arlie of Mace and William Leonard of Gloucester, N. J.; three daughers, Mrs. Mary Brown of Jamestown, Mrs. Rosaliene Sparks of Martinsville and Mrs. Eda Durbin of Mace; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also sruviving are five brothers, Edward of Georgetown, Ill., Walter of Elmdale, Ind., Orville of Pasadena, Calif., Homer of Jasonville, Ind., and Sherman of Crawfordsville and two sisters, Mrs. Arzola Graves of New Ross and Mrs. Aletha LaFollette of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mace K of P cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Wednesday. - kbz
