Crawfordsville, Ind May 11 – George E. Fitchey, 89 years old, last surviving member of the old Montgomery Guards, died yesterday at Culver Hospital here after a brief illness. Mr. Fitchey was born at Indianapolis Oct 22, 1854 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fitchey. The father was a former building inspector and fire department chief there. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry Swan of this city with whom he made his home and Mrs. James Rowan of Cleveland, O. Services will be here Friday, with burial in Crown Hill cemetery, Indianapolis. -kz

The barn of Dr. E Detchon at Crawfordsville was partly destroyed by fire on Tuesday night and George Fitchey, a fireman, received probably fatal injuries by the roof falling in on him.
