Thursday night at ten minutes before 11 o’clock Peter Fischer passed away at his home on South Water Street, he having been in failing health for several years, caused by his advanced age. The funeral occurred from the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and was strictly private, the body being taken to Oak Hill for interment.

Peter Fischer was born in Alsace, France, Feb. 12, 1822, and came to this country about 1845, locating in Cincinnati, where he was married in 1848 to Miss Catherine Miller, who with seven children survive him, three children having preceded their father.
Mr. Fischer came to Crawfordsville in 1865 and engaged in the manufacture of cigars and built the house he occupied up to the time of his death.

The children living are John J., Frank, August, Miss Clara Fischer, Mrs. Mac Stillwell, Mrs. Will Scott, and Mrs. George Neilest, all of this city. The only living relative remaining of Mr. Fischer’s family is a nephew living in Detroit. Mr. Fischer was identified very closely with the early development of Crawfordsville and was a man respected by all who knew him. - S
