Jesse D. FINE, 89, of 1501 D. 18th St, Lafayette, formerly of Crawfordsville died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday (21 July) in Knights of Pythias Home. Mr. Fine retired in 1964 after working 41 years as a civil engineer with the Indiana State Highway. He was a WWI veteran, having served with the US Army. He was past commander of Byron Cox American Legion Post. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Hillsboro Masonic Lodge 385, member of Scottish Rite, York Rite at Crawfordsville and Knights of Pythias. He attended Fountain County schools. He was born Sept 18, 1897 at Wallace, to Alva L. and Maude Blackford Fine. He married Mary Susan Atkinson May 27, 1920. She died Nov 23, 1964. He then married Mary E. Harlos June 19, 1966 at Crawfordsville. She died Aug 7, 1975. Surviving are two sons, Chauncey of Crawfordsville and Leland of Indianapolis; a brother, Raymond of New Ross, six grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Three sisters are deceased.. Friends may call at the funeral home 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. The family request memorials be made to K of P Home at Lafayette or Trinity United Methodist Church at the funeral home.
