Waynetown, March 27 - Thomas J. Fields, 82, prominent retired merchant of this place, died at his home here at 6 o'clock yesterday morning. Death was the result of complications after an illness of four weeks. He had been in failing health about 3 years. Mr. Fields had lived in Waynetown for 53 years and was formerly in the hardware business here. He was born near Waynetown 10 August 1844, the son of Asher and Nancy Ball Fields. He married Sarah Williamson who died in 1917 at Waynetown. Surviving are a daughter and son, Mrs. Nanna Reid of Indianapolis and Ira Fields, at home and 4 grandchildren, one great grandchild and a niece, Mrs. Minnie Bunnell of Waynetown. Funeral services will be from the home on Sunday afternoon at 2 with Rev. WH Newlin officiating. Burial at Masonic Cemetery.
