Thanks to the Covington Public Library for sending their wonderful collection of obituaries to share with you here (especially Brenda) – 1950 B Book p 43  Hand dated Sept 6, 1953

A widely known businessman, EA Fields, 86, died at his home in Waynetown Sunday evening at 9:15 after a two weeks illness due to a coronary occlusion.  He had been a prominent businessman in Waynetown since 1917 having been engaged in the furniture business.  In later years, Herman Whitaker became his partner and was in charge of the business in his declining years.  Mr. Fields was also a very active member of the Baptist Church having taught a Sunday School class for a number of years.  He was born Jan 19, 1867 in Saratoga, IA the son of Charles W. and Mary Fields. On June 24, 1890 he was married to Lucy E. Laird at Waverly, IA. She preceded him in death on May 16, 1940. Surviving is a daughter Miss Marguerite Fields at home.  Funeral services were held from the Waynetown Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday conducted by the Rev. Harvey S. Burns, pastor of the church.  Burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. – kbz
