Rev. WH Fertich, whose sudden death was noted in last week's paper, was interred at Oak Hill cem, Saturday afternoon. Services were held in his own Church at Romney in the morning, and at Trinity Church in Crawfordsville in the afternoon. The pall bearers were members of McPherson Post GAR. He was b. at Jacksonburg, Wayne Co March 14, 1847. He marr. Miss Laura Simon of Selma in 1870. She, with 4 children survive: Mable, Mrs. John Kerr of Newtown, Mrs. WD McWhinery, of Clearwater, KS and Mrs. EH Wright of Oak Park Ill. He served in the Civil War in Co. K. 9th Cavalry. Mr. Fertich spent 34 years of his earlier life as a teacher. He was supt. of schools at Shelbyville, Covington, Brazil, Mishawaka and Blooomington Ind and Larned and Eldora, Ks. At the age of 54 he entered the ministry, being the oldest man ever admitted into the NW Indiana Conference. He was very successful as a minister. While here he built the handsome ME parsonage. Mr. Fertich possessed a very pleasing personality, and was a forceful speaker. He had great appreciation for the beautiful and appropriate in literature, which he used with effect in illustrating his discourses. After an active and useful life, he died at his post, an end not inappropriate for a soldier in two great armies.

Rev. WH Fertich, former pastor of the ME Church here, dropped dead just after closing an address to the Crawfordsville District Conference at Frankfort, Wed. afternoon. At the time of the seizure he was talking to Rev. OP Paxon. Death was almost immediate and results from apoplexy.

Rev. H. D. Dick, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Hanawalt end Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McNeil were in Romney Saturday morning to attend the funeral of Rev. William Henry Fertich. Twenty-eight ministers were present to pay their last tribute of respect to their fellow brother, and to take part in the funeral service. Rev. Fertich, who was the local pastor of the Romney M. E. church, was in Frankfort Wednesday to attend the Crawfordsville District Conference. He had just concluded an able address before the conference on the subject, “A Minister’s General Reading,” and had resumed his seat in the conference when he was suddenly stricken with apoplexy and passed away almost immediately. The body was removed to the parsonage home in Romney, and the and the first funeral services were observed in the church of his pastorate. Following the funeral services at Romney the body was taken at once by auto hearse to Trinity M. E. church in Crawfordsville where it lay in state until 2 o’clock when the final funeral service for the highly esteemed minister was held. The interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. Both funeral services were very eagerly attended.
