Crawfordsville, Ind Nov 7 – First Lt. Carroll Wayne Feather, son of William L. Feather of New Ross, was killed in a plane crash near Peschici, Italy Oct 23 while on an operational flight against the enemy. In the service since Sept 1941, Lt. Feather landed at Rabi in Italy on D-Day.  He piloted a plane engaged in missions to determine weather conditions over territory prior to the missions. His plane also did photography work.  He was home on furlough in December 1942. A graduate of the New Ross HS class of 1936, Lt. Feather trained at 7 different air fields in Texas before going overseas. The father and two brothers survive.  RIP Sir ! - kbz
