Waynetown, Ind. (CNS) -- Charles (Chuck) Fay, 44, Waynetown postmaster the past 16 years, died unexpectedly at his home at 11:25 p.m. yesterday (Mar. 21, 1967). Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He was born July 11, 1922, in Tippecanoe County, son of Elston E. and Bessie Funk Fay. He was married, June 28, 1947, in Waynetown to Jane Albright who survives. He was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, was past master of the Waynetown Businessmen's Association. He was past commander of the Waynetown American Legion Post, was secretary of the Waynetown swimming pool organization, the Dip and Dive, and was past president of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class. Mr. Fay was a graduate of Waynetown Grade School and a 1940 graduate of Waynetown High. He was a Marine veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific Theater. Surviving besides the widow are three daughters, Pam, Debbie and Paula all at home; a son, Pat at home; his mother, Mrs. Bessie Fay of Waynetown; a brother, James Fay of Crawfordsville, and two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Simmons of Mellott and Mrs. Betty Gravitt of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister and a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Myron Hinton will officiate. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday. - kbz

WAYNETOWN – Funeral services for Charles Fay were held at the Servies Funeral Home Friday afternoon with Rev. Myron Hinton officiating. Mrs. Nellie Snyder played organ music, including a special requested number, “Whispering Hope.” Nephews of the deceased acted as pallbearers and assisted with the floral tributes. They were James Fay II, Larry Gross, John Gravitt, Rob Simmons, Merle Brier Jr., Carl Brier and Wilburn Swanson. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, where the Waynetown Post of the American Legion was in charge of military rites, led by Commander Homer Faucett. With the color guard were Harold Moore, William Furr, Blye Moody and Kenneth Hudson, and the firing squad and Harold Bratton, Bob Rogers, C. R. Bunnell, Ernest Ellis, Robert Rosen and Philip Biddle. The flag was folded by Keith Whalen and Donald Grenard and presented to the widow. Taps and the echo were sounded by Alan Doan and Chuck Rosen. Waynetown Masonic Lodge 302 held a service Thursday night at the funeral home. Robert Songer was in charge, assisted by J. Russell Harris, Harold Bratton, Robert Larew, Claude C. Cord, Alford Austin, Lowell Stockdale, Frank Endicott, Eugene Cox, Jack Swank, Clifford Swank, Ernest Cord, Francis Grimble, V. C. Blackford, Bill Mitton, Frank Jack, Carroll Coffin, Clyde Bowlus, Lew Funk and Martin Gest. – jlr
