Chester E. Farrar, 49, died suddenly of a heart attack at 7:30 pm. Wednesday while mowing the lawn at his home, 706 Wayne Ave. He had been employed by Sealtest Ice Cream Co. for more than 25 years and was sales manager of the Lafayette office at the time of his death. A native of Huntington County, he was a son of Pearl and Grace Paul Farrar and was born July 31, 1912. He was married in August 1934 in Huntington to Darcy Jane Stults. While living in Huntington, Mr. Farrar owned and operated a Double-Dip Ice Cream store at Richmond. Farrar established residency in Crawfordsville in 1942. He had also lived in Decatur and Ft. Wayne. Farrar was a member of 1st Christian Church and Montgomery Lodge 50, F&AM. Surviving are the wife, his mother, two sons, William R of Fond Du Lac, Wis and Jay E. Farrar of Hartford, Conn; two brothers, Arthur P. Farrar and Robert J. Farrar both of Huntington and two grandchildren, William E. and Eric L. both of Fond Du Lac. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bright Funeral Home here with Rev. Paul Million and Rev. Eugene S. Ogrod conducting services. Second rites will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in Bailey Funeral Home in Huntington and burial will be in Star Hope Cemetery east of Huntington. Friends may call at Bright Funeral Home. -- kbz
