THORNTOWN – Sarah Fairfield, 52, of Rt. 1, Thorntown, died at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Vincent's Hospital at Indianapolis. She had been a patient 2 ½ weeks. She was a member of the Thorntown Baptist Church and a graduate of Thorntown High School. She was a life resident of Thorntown and was employed at the Thorntown Textile Co. Born May 21, 1924, she was a daughter of Thomas Patrick and Mary Jane Castile Riley. She married Ernest W. Fairfield on Nov. 27, 1942. Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Emmalou Shelly of Lebanon; two sons, Jerry “Lucky” and Ernest “Skip,” both of Thorntown; a brother, Allen of Thorntown; and five sisters, Mrs. Martha Fall of Thorntown, Mrs. Maggie Favors of Kirklin and Mrs. Edith Beach, Mrs. Elizabeth Beach and Mrs. Ella Meeks, all of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Russell & Hitch Funeral Home at Thorntown with the Rev. D. W. Stackhouse officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery at Thorntown. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
