Fred E. Fairfield, 25, of 211 W. Wabash, died at 5:05 p. m. at the Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis, after an illness of nine months. Born Nov. 14, 1931 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Charles and Bessie Walden Fairfield. He was married June 3, 1956 to Rita Jane Harriman who survives. Mr. Fairfield was a member of the First Nazarene Church. He had lived in Crawfordsville all his life and before his illness was employed at the Montgomery County Highway Department, the Hoosier Crown Corp., and Plastene Mfg. Co. Surviving in addition to his wife are his parents; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Clouse of Highland, and eight brothers, Ernest of Yountsville, Odie of New Market, and Raymond, Walter, William, Orville, Charles Jr., and Robert, all of Crawfordsville. Two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p. m. at the First Nazarene Church with Rev. L. D. Lockwood of Highland officiating and Rev. Robert Griffin, pastor of the church assisting. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Russell E. Brown Mortuary after 4 p. m. Saturday. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the funeral services.
