Waveland - Ray H. Ewell, 77, a retired farmer who had lived in this community 35 years died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health four years. He was a member of a Christian Church in Illinois. Mr. Ewell was born August 23, 1895 in Illinois the son of Levi and Wilda Wright Ewell. He was married to Clara E. Newport of Spencer on July 31, 1918. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Rosalie) Rodgers of Rt 7 and Mrs. Dean (Lois) Strohm of Rockville; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. Ruth Isaac officiating. Burial will be in Young America Cemetery at Hume, Ill with graveside rites at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
