James Evans died at his home four miles west of Darlington at 12:30 Monday after a lingering illness of a complication of diseases. He gradually grew worse the past 5 weeks and the family and friends surrounding his bedside realized his condition was serious and he could not long survive and relatives from a distance were notified of his serious condition. Last mon morning at 7 o'clock he lapsed into unconsciousness and remained in that state until 12:30 o'clok when his spirit took its flight in the great beyond. The deceased was 58 years, 5 months and two days old. He was b. at Jamestown In. Was twice married. He was 1st united in marriage to Mary Stevenson. To this union were born 3 children, two girls and one boy, all of whom are living. After the death of his wife he was later united in marriage to Johanna Conrad, daughter of the late Washington Conrad, and they moved to a farm west of Darlington, where they were residing at the time of his death. To this union were born 4 children, 3 girls and one boy, the wife and three daughters survive. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church. The funeral was held at the home Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. Rayle and special music by the Campbell's Chapel choir. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows Cemetery w. of town. Those from a distance who came to attend the fun were Howard Gillis and wife of Crawfordsville; Owen Evans and wife of Indy; Elmer Taylor and wife of Indy; Eli Sweeney and wife of Laf. and Rev. David Evans and wife of Fost, (Foster?) Indiana. - kbz

Darlington Dec 13 - James Evans, a well known farmer living 4 miles west of Darlington, passed away Monday afternoon about 2 o'clock after an illness of some time of typhoid pneumonia. Mr. Evans was 62 years of age and had lived nearly all his life in this section. He is survived by a widow and several children and was a son-in-law of the late Washington Conrad. Funeral arrangements have not been made but burial will be made in Odd Fellows Cemetery here. - kbz
