Pvt. Robert Russell Eubanks, 22 year old son of Thomas and Ruth Pennock Eubanks of near this city was killed recently in the bitter fighting in Korea. The photo was taken during a visit here in April immediately prior to his being sent overseas. The father, an employee of the Hydraulic Brick Company was notified of his son's death last Saturday. Pvt. Eubanks, who was in service with an airborne infantry unit was graduated from the Crawfordsville HS in 1947. Previously he attended Breaks School near the family home. -- kbz

The body of Pvt. Robert Russell Eubanks, who lost his life in the fighting in Korea, is being returned to the US aboard the Exmouth Victory, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday. The ship also carrying the boeis of 612 other Americans is due to arrive in San Francisco Friday Oct. 5. The 22-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Eubanks, RFD 6, Crawfordsville, Pvt. Eubanks was killed in action in Korea while serving with the Army. He entered service last Dec 5. Official notification of his death was received by the father in June. A graduate of the Crawfordsville HS with the class of 1947, Pvt. Eubanks was employed at RR Donnelley & Sons when he entered service. Born Jan 14, 1929, Pvt Eubanks was the only son of Thomas and Ruth Pennock Eubanks. The father is an employee of the Hydraulic Press Brick Company. -- kbz
