George ERSKIN, a well known farmer from Boone County died Saturday night at the home of his niece, Mrs. Stephen Courtney, near Shannondale. Mr. Erskin was stricken with paralysis last Wed. Since that time he has suffered two additional strokes. He had been unconscious since the second stroke. Mr. Erskin was born and raised in Boone County and had lived all his life in that county. He was 74. He had never married. Two sisters, Mrs. Linna Whiteman of Lebanon and a Mrs. Jones of Anderson survive him. The funeral was conducted from the Courtney home where he had been living for the last five years, at 1:30 p.m Monday Burial at Shannondale Cemetery. - kbz

Monroe Erskins of Anderson came to the bedside of his uncle, George Erskins last Saturday and remained until Monday. George ERSKINS, who has resided here with his niece, Mrs. Steven Courtney for several years suffered a stroke of palsy last Wednesday and died Saturday evening. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1 conducted by Rev. Jones of ANderson a nephew of the deceased and Val Riggins of this place. Mrs. Will LaFollette and Will Fiske sang and the following obituary was read: George Erskins fourth child of Michael and Nancy Erskins was born March 23, 1842 near Advance, Boone County, Indiana and departed this life May 6, 1916 at the home of his niece, Mrs. Steven Courtney east of Shannondale aged 74 years 1 month and 13 days. One half sister, Mrs. Linnie Whiteman still survives and also a host of relatives and friends who mourn his loss. Uncle George, as he was familiarly known had a kind word and pleasant smile for all he met. - kbz
