JH Ermentrout a pioneer farmer of Montgomery and Whitec counties died yesterday evening at 5:15 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Clark of Chalmers.  Mr. Ermentrout was born Jan 1, 1840 and his death was due to his age hastened by paralysis.  He was married to Mary Davis, Nov 16, 1865 his wife having been deceased for the past 18 years. He is survived by three children: Mrs. William S. Lanum of West Lafayette; Charles Ermentrout of Schneider and Mrs. Frank Clark of Chalmers.  Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Mr. Ermentrout was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church in which he was ordained deacon in April 1888.  He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1865.  All during his career he presented the fines type of manhood never stooping to the petty things of life.  His funeral will be held from the Springvale Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Lee Masters officiating.  Interment will be in Brookston cemetery.  – kbz
