Matthew Epperson was born in Lundenburgh County, Virginia, October 20, 1808, and died with paralysis May 18, 1890, aged 81 Years 6 Months 28 Days. He was the third son of Daniel Epperson and Susanna (Matthews) Epperson to whom were born 12 children, two daughters and ten sons all of whom with one exception, lived to a mature age. He leaves a wife and four sons and one daughter to mourn their loss. Matthew Epperson was converted and joined the ME Church more than 40 years ago and at the time of his death he held a letter of good standing from the church at Frankfort, Ind of which he was an earnest and an acceptable member. Since coming here he was unable to attend church on account of the increasing infirmities of his age, hence he did not deposit the letter in a church. But when death came he was prepared to go and join the Heavenly host at rest in the skies. Funeral was preached by the writer at the family residence four miles south of Darlington, Ind, May 19, 1890. The remains laid to rest in the Old Salem Church yard. May God bless the bereaved family and gather them safely home at last. ETS
