Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal 17 April 1911 p 4

Ora Ensminger, son of William and Zerelda Ensminger, was born in Montgomery County, Indiana in 1845 and was the survivor of a family of 3 children. His boyhood years were passed in Garfield. later the family moved to Lebanon and then to Covington where Mr. Ensminger was marshall of 8 years. For several years he taught school and also was advertising agent for Barnum's show and visited almost every prominent city in the country. Aobut 12 years ago he returned to Crawfordsville and for several years was in the employ of the Standard Oil Co. For the past 7 years previous to his last illness he was in the employ of the city as a laborer and nobly sturggled to make a living; but his health having failed, he was compelled to take up his home at the County farm, where after a severe illness extending almost a year death relieved him of his sufferings. Mr. Ensminger was a man of fine address and personal appearance, a close observer, an interesting conversationalist. He belonged to one of the prominent families of the County, his father having been a prominent educator and his uncle, Dr. Samuel Ensminger being one of the leading singers of the County. His uncle Horace Ensminger was the best marshall Crawfordsville ever had and the nephew had the personal courage akin to that of the uncle. Short funeral services in charge of Rev. Fred Whitle Hixson were held Monday forenoon at DC Barnhill's funeral parlors, after which the body was laid to rest at Masonic Cemetery. - kbz
