Dr. Leonard A. ENSMINGER of Indianapolis, son of Dr. and Mrs. SLEnsminger of this city was elected sec-treas of the Big Four Railway Surgeons' Assoc at the annual meeting of the organization in Indianapolis Thursday. Dr. CW Russell of Springfield OH was elected pres. Papers were read by a number of members and memorial services were held for members who have died in the past year. Dr. S.L. Ensminger of this city, local surgeon for the Big Four attended the meeting.

Indianapolis Dr. Leonard A. Ensminger, 94, native of Crawfordsville and Indiana physician, surgeon and soldier for 50 years, died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. Dr. Ensminger had been in failing health for over a year. Dr. Ensminger was born June 21, 1876 in Crawfordsville, the son of Dr. Samuel and Louise Ensminger. The family home was at 415 W. Main Street, Crawfordsville. He attended Wabash Prepatory School and later Wabash Colleg for two years. He became a special student at the University of Wisconsin and took his medical training in Indianapolis at the former Central Medical College, where he graduated in 1903. His college career was interrupted briefly when he volunteered for the Spanish-American War. Dr. Ensminger was married in Indianapolis to Cora Crawford. The widow resides at 1321 N. Meridian St. His only son, Robert died in a plane crash in WWII. In WWI, Dr. Ensminger served more than two years overseas, retiring as a Lt. Col. in the Army Reserve. Dr. Ensminger was called for service in WWII but deferred later because of his age. He volunteered as an examiner for the Selective Service System. He was a professor of orghopedic surgery at the Indiana Univeristy School of Medicine before his retirement.

Graveside rites for Dr. Leonard A. Ensminger will be conducted at 1:30 pm. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery here. Dr Ensminger, 84 -year-old native of Crawfordsville and Indianapolis physician, surgeon, soldier for 50 years, died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Flanner & Buchanan Fall Creek ortuary at Indianpaolis. Friends may pay their respects at the mortuary.
