Ulysses H  Elmore, 63, of Rt 1 was found dead Monday afternoon in the barn near his residence. He fell across a hog gate when fatally stricken and the body was discovered when his wife returned from work in the city. A farmer all his life east of here, Mr. Elmore was a native of Browns Valley born March 16, 1905 to Dr HH and Julia Durham Elmore. His first marriage was to Katherine Wert who died in 1950. His second marriage was to Evelyn Conner who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis J. Clevenger of Muncie, Mrs. Mary Julia White of Rt 5 and Mrs. Janice Stewart of Indianapolis; 9 grandchildren; a brother Rev. Austin D. Elmore of Cedarville, Ohio and nieces and nephews. Mr. Elmore was a member and a trustee of the First Baptist Church.  He was a 1924 graduate of CHS and attended Wabash College.  Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Wed at Hunt & Son FH with a nephew, Rev. David E. Elmore officiating assisted by Rev. Milo Riggs. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Heart Fund.
