Hillsboro, May 23 - Mrs. Sarah Ann Ellis, 79, widow of the late James Ellis, died on Tuesday night at 7 o'clock. Although Mrs. Ellis had been in ill health for the past several months her condition was not thought to be serious and her death came as a shock to this community. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Moore and was born in Parke County Feb 22, 1834. She was one of a family of 9 children. Shortly after the Civil War she was married to James Ellis and most of their lives were spent on a farm south of Hillsboro until a few years ago when they moved into town. Mr. Ellis preceded his wife in death in 1917. The deceased is survived by one son, Alva of Hillsboro; two daughters, Mrs. Ada Ridge of Guthrie, OK and Mrs. Gerty Pitman of HIllsboro; two brothers, James Moore of Hillsboro and Alva Marion Moore of Dakota and two sisters, Mrs. Watson of Danville, Ill and Miss Amanda Ellis of Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at Prairie Chapel Church in charge of Rev. O.R. Mason of Crawfordsville. Interment at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
