Russell Ellis, 57-year-old painter and decorator sustained a fatal heart attack Saturday afternoon while working at 1404 Edgewood Drive. Mr. Ellis, who resided at the Monon Hotel, was born March 30, 1906 at Crawfordsville, the son of Dan and Mary Stout Ellis. He was never married. He was employed as a painter and decorator all of his life and was a veteran of WWII. His only survivors are a sister, Mrs. Gladys Smith of Concord, California and an uncle, Arnett Ellis of Crawfordsville. Friends may call after 7 pm. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm. Tuesday at Hunt & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Carlton Christenson will officiate. Notes: Russell Ellis of Crawfordsville was a son of Daniel B. and Mary Ellis, and had a sister, Gladys, born in 1902. Daniel was born in 1874 and lived through 1930 in Crawfordsville. He divorced Mary, before 1910 and she went to live in Indianapolis. Russell and Gladys were listed twice in the 1910 census. Daniel was a son of William C. Ellis, (born in 1844 and died before 1910) and Mary B.(born about 1853). Daniel lived in his parents' home apparently until his mother died between 1920 and 1930. - kbz
