Mrs. Miranda Ellis died at the home of her son, Charles Ellis at Smartsburg early on Sunday monring. She has been in poor health for some time but got worse about a week before her death. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church at Rossville, Ill her former home on Wednesday morning. She was one of 13 children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry McMains, and was born on a farm south of town. Had she lived until March she would have been 81 years old. she married Henry Ellis and lived on a farm near Rossville, Ill until his death and afterwards with her son, Charles. They later lived two year sin Arkansas and have since lived near Crawfordsville. Charles is the only living child. The only daughter, Mary Martha better known as "Sittie" was married to J. Bell Durham and died many years ago. She is survived by two brothers, Anderson and Robert McMains and by one sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Alfrey. Mrs. Alfrey was living with her at the time of her death. Mrs. Ellis was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. She had a very pleasant and obliging disposition and leaves a host of friends to mourn her death. - kbz
