Marion Ellis, well-known resident of this community, passed away on Saturday night at 11:30 o'clock at the home of his son-in-law, Albert Surface who resides 3 miles SE of this city. Mr. Ellis' death was caused by injuries which he received two weeks ago while helping Mr. Surface take a load of corn into the barn at the Surface farm. The wagon containing the corn caught on one of the barn doors, throwing Mr. Ellis to the ground and injuring him severely. Mr. Ellis, who had spent most of his life in and near Waynetown, was a highly respected citizen and for many years was a member of the Ingersoll Christian Church near Waynetown. He was born September 27, 1849, near Hillsboro, the son of George and Martha Ellis. Mr. Ellis was twice married, first to Sidna Blackford and later Amanda Adams. Those surviving are: one son, Fred of Tabor, Alberta, Canada; four daughters, Mrs. Blanche Williams of Waynetown; Mrs. Pearl Atwood of Los Angeles, Mrs. Hattie Berry of 407 Union Street, Crawfordsville and Mrs. Eva Surface of south of Crawfordsville; 8 grandchildren; a brother, Pete Ellis of Hillsboro; and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Hesler and Mrs. Nancy Hughes both of Waynetown. Funeral services will be on Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Waynetown Christian Church with Rev. John Servies in charge. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. - kbz
