Freddie C. Ellis was born March 12, 1887, and departed from this world Feb. 8, 1898, at 4:30 p.m., aged 10 years, 10 months and 25 days. He is the first to be taken out of that home circle of eight children, those remaining being entirely aware of the loss of their little brother. His absence is felt in that family circle but that vacant chair is to be occupied no more by Fred.
It was a very anxious eye that each of his schoolmates watched him and earnestly hoped for his recovery. But hopes and wishes are in vain when called to compete with the power of that mighty One who knows all things best. In school he was ever diligent and successful, always obedient, always endeavoring to please others as he labored, never forgetting the golden rule. As a pupil he was successful, as a classmate he was to be envied, as a playmate, none was to be better loved. Thus in his short stay on earth he was beginning the life of a model man. Would that all boys were such. This family has the sympathy and love of the school where that vacancy will ever be held with sorrow. They have the sympathy of all who are in any way known to that family.
