Wingate—Frederick Ellis Elfreich, 71, Wingate, died at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1989, in Culver Union Hospital, Crawfordsville.   He was born July 8, 1917, in New York, N.Y., the son of William Otto and Teresia Callahan Elfreich. He was married Aug. 2, 1942 at Chicago to Alice Marie Young, who survives.   He was a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines and Illini Swallow Bus Lines. He also worked as an emergency room technician.

  He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and was past commander of American Legion Post 174 at Wingate.  Surviving besides his wife are a son, Curtis, Crawfordsville; a daughter, Karen Brindle, Wingate, and a sister, Evelyn Elfreich, New York. He was preceded in death by an infant son. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.
