Roachdale, Nov. 23 - Robert Shanklin (sic) Edwards, 82, retired business man, died following an eight week's illness at 8:30 o'clock this morning at his home in Roachdale. Mr. Edwards' death was attributed to the infirmatives (sic) of old age.
The deceased was born in Putnam county June 17, 1853, the son of Glascow (sic) and Nancy LaFollette Edwards. He was married Oct. 5,1878, to Mary Belle Thompson. Mr. Edwards operated a general merchandise store after moving to Roachdale in 1892. He retired in 1900.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leo Faller; a sister, Mrs. Nan Smith, and a brother, John Edwards, all of Roachdale. Mr. Edwards' wife died Jan. 16, 1919.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Chastain funeral home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. C. L. Airhart in charge. Burial will be made in the Roachdale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Edwards home Saturday afternoon and evening and also at the funeral home from 1 until 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
