Curtis D. Edwards, 70 years old, died at his home north of Crawfordsville on the New Richmond-Linden Road at 7:35 o'clock Saturday evening after an illness of 18 months of hardening of the arteries. Mr. Edward had been in poor health for that long period but it was not until February of this year that his condition became perceptibly worse. Since that itme he had been sinking gradually. The end was not entirely unexpected by members of the immediate family. Mr. Edwards was born on August 23, 1851, at Hamilton, Ohio. When he was only one year old, his father and mother, Seth and Mary Edwards moved to Montgomery County and since that time, Mr. Edwards had made his continuous residence in this county. On Sept 17, 1876, he was married to Miss Rebecca Clark. For years Mr. Edwards resided east of Crawfordsville but 37 years ago ohe moved to the farm north of Crawfordsville, of which he was the owner at the time of his death. He led a life of great industry and although starting as a comparatively poor man, he was able to accumulate wealth to come into possession of the valuable farm occupied by him and his family. He was well known and all of his acquaintances characterized him as a man of tremendous energy, unquestionable integrity and excellent personality. Throughout his life he was a staunch adherent of the principles of the Democratic party but took part in public life only as an unsuccessful candidate for sheriff several years ago. Surviving him are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Walter Sidener of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Arlie Patton of Round Hill and Miss Cuba Edwards at home; two sons, Charles and Ralph Edwards, both of whom live near the home place on the New Richmond Road and one sister, Mrs. Nancy Smith of Orlando, Fla. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. - kbz
