MACE — Beulah F. Edwards, 84, of Mace, a well-known music teacher in the community, died Thursday night in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. Mrs. Edwards taught music in the community for more than 60 years. Her students received 171 first place division ribbons in piano and vocal competition. She was church organist for more than 50 years in Mace United Methodist Church where she was a member. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Business and Professional Women, Order of Eastern Star, Crawfordsville Symphony Society, Indianapolis Piano Teachers Association and Crawfordsville Music Club. A life member of Federation of Music Clubs, Mrs. Edwards studied piano with Dreser Kendall of Bush Conservatory at Chicago, Bomar Cramer, Willard McGregor, Earl Howe Jones at Jordan Conservatory at Indianapolis, and Wynneta Cleveland Bandel of Crawfordsville. She studied organ with Bob Stofer at Wabash College and Dr. Charles Demorest at Indianapolis. Mrs. Edwards studied cello with Adolph Schellschmidt and Consuelo Rettig of Indianapolis. She was named to "Who's Who in 50-years of Sacred Music" during a state convention. Born March 19, 1892, she was a daughter of James and Sarah Stewart. She married Oliver C. Edwards on June 4, 1913. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Donald M. Edwards of Mace; daughter-in-law, Jean; a brother, James Stewart of Ladoga; a granddaughter, Carolyn Fisher of Mace; and a grandson, Phillip Edwards of Mace. Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Victor Link officiating. Burial will be in Mace K of P Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday.--waw
