Oscar Marion EDDINGFIELD

Oscar Marion Eddingfield, a very prosperous farmer, age 66 years, died at his home, two mi. West of New Ross, March 7, 1919. The deceased was born in Butler Co, Ohio May 18, 1853, and moved to a farm near New Ross, IN at the age of six where he continued to reside until his death. Deceased was married to Nancy E. Redenbaugh Jan 20, 1876. To this union were born four children. Deceased united with the Christian Church at Ladoga Jan 28, 1878, and was a faithful and consistent member. He began in youth to till the soil, and worked unceasingly to clear the forest, drain the land and make it produce abundantly. As a husband and father he was kind and a good provider; as a neighbor, he was unexcelled; as a man, he was honest and upright in all his dealings. It is said of him that he paid his helpers every night, never wanting to owe anyone. Rev. SG Smith, pastor of the Ladoga Christian Church, conducted the funeral serv. Sun. aft. at 2 o'clock from the residence and the burial was at the New Ross Cemetery Dec. is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Emma Layne and Mrs. Iva Rice of Indianapolis; two sons, Raymond & Ernest Eddingfield of New Ross; three brothers, a sister, 7 grandchi. and a host of friends are left to mourn their loss.
