CLARENCE "Pat" DYKES

DARLINGTON – Clarence N. “Pat” Dykes, 75, of Rt. 1, Darlington, died at 1 a.m. Saturday in his home. He had been in ill health for 2½ years. He was a farmer and had been a member of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners for three terms. He was director of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Co-Op for 31 years. Mr. Dykes was a graduate of Bowers High School and a member of the United Methodist Church at Colfax. Mr. Dykes was a member of Plumb Lodge 472 F & AM at Colfax, Order of Eastern Star at Colfax and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Born Nov. 13, 1900, he was a son of James Edward and Estella Olinger Dykes of Montgomery County. He was married to Mary R. Bowen on Oct. 21, 1922, east of Thorntown. Survivors include his wife; two sons; James A. of Okinawa and John W. of Colfax; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys D. Frith of South Bend and Mrs. Irma D. Dunbar of Colfax; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Russell & Hitch Funeral Home at Thorntown with the Rev. David Harrold and the Rev. John Stalions officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Hill Cemetery near Thorntown. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 9 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr
