SAMUEL WAKEFIELD DURHAM

Samuel Wakefield Durham lifelong resident of this community, passed away Sunday night at 9:30 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Demaree. His death followed a four weeks illness. Mr. Durham, the son of John and Sarah Stubbins Durham, was born on the old Durham Homestead which was entered from the government by his grandfather, NW of Waveland, on Feb 13, 1857, and was 85 years of age. He was the 9th child in a family of 13 and although frail to health, he was the last memeber of his family to be called to death. He passed away in the house where he was born and in which his entire life was spent and during his latter years was cared for by a niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. John Demaree. Funeral services were conducted at the Demaree home at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev McBrayer. Burial in Maple Ridge Cemetery. - kbz
