The following obituary was read: A sigh of relief went up from the hearts of the friends of Nellie Manning Durham when they learned that on Saturday morning, December 6, 1930, at the home in Indianapolis, God spoke and her spirit responded, quietly and peacefully as a cloud passing in the summer sky. The sadness of her going was peculiarly softened and tinctured, many months before she had been seized by a stern and unrelenting disease - pernicious anemia - which, as yet, leaves only pain and desolation and death in its wake. Nellie M. Durham, devoted daughter of William and Elizabeth Mann Manning, was born in Terre Haute, Indiana August 3, 1871. She was educated in the grade schools and Wiley High School of Terre Haute. In 1887, she moved with her parents to a farm in Turman Township, Sullivan County, Indiana in which vicinity she resided until 12 years ago when she came to a farm near Waveland. On October 15, 1888 she married Joshua Bell Durham and to them three children were born: Laura (Durham) Ingram of Indianapolis, Marion Y. Durham of Crawfordsville and Lelia (Durham) Bratton of Terre Haute, all of whom survive, besides the beloved husband and companion, four grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. Those from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. James Durham and daughter, Lida; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Durham, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bostick, Mrs. William Billman and Mrs. Ed Coffman of SUllivan; Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Gosness of Terre Haute; Ernest Durham and Mrs. Margaret Bridges of Russellville; Mr. and Mrs. John A. Johnson and Miss Esther Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Finley, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Vail, Rev. and Mrs. H.H. Elmore and Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Elmore of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Ned Edwards of Linden, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mulliken and Joe Taylor Ladoga.
