Mrs. Frank C. Evans, 417 E. Main, was in receipt of word Monday that Lee S. Durham, native of Russellville and known to a number of the older residents of Crawfordsville and Montgomery County had died at his hom ein Carthage, Mo. Mr. Durham was 84. Born June 13, 1870 in Russellville, Mr. Durham was the youngest of the four children of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George S. Durham pioneer residents of that community. His youth was spent on the farm where his parents resided. Mr. Durham attended DePauw University where he graduated with the class of 1892. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity Chapter in DePauw. He was married to Miss Lula M. O'Keefe of Carthage, Mo whom he met while both were students at DePauw. Mr. Durham was a brother of the late Mr. P.O. Rudy of Crawfordsville and he and Ms. Durham had visited here a number of times over the years. They resided on a farm near here for a brief period following their marriage then moved to Carthage where Mr. Durham was a proiminent business man for years. Mr. Durham was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Carthage, serving for a number of years as Sunday School Superintendent and also as president of the official board. He also held membership in the Masonic bodies in Carthage and had served as president of the Rotary Club of Carthage. Two sons survive, Rev. G. Eugene Durham, Methodist University pastor and director of the Methodist Student Foundation of Northwestern University and Maynard L. Durham owner of an advertising agency in Carthage. - kbz
