NATHANIEL DUNN

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal 24 July 1875

Nathaniel Dunn died at the residence of his son, Irvin Dunn, last Thursday evening at the age of about 85 years. He had an attack of cholera infantum, when owning to his advanced age, his system gave way, and he passed quietly into eternity. He has resided in this city since 1825, a period of 50 years. The funeral will take place this evening from the family residence at 4 o'clock services by Rev. RF Caldwell. Mr. Dunn was born in the year 1790, and learned the tanner's trade near Lexington KY. He was for one year in the US military service during the War of 1812 but was not engaged in any battles. He was married in Madison County KY in 1814. In 1825 he emigrated to this county and settled on the property in the western part of the city where he resided until his death. He was for many years an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. His life was an example of Christian piety and integrity. - kbz
