Mrs. L.M. Dunbar, age 78, is dead after a sickness of three years.  She had been married nearly 60 years.  Her Husband, a retired Dunkard minister, and three sons survive.  – kbz

Christina Dunbar nee Bowers was born Sept 19, 1838 near Clarks Hill in Tippecanoe County, Indiana and died Aug 22, 1916 at her home in Darlington, aged 77 years 11 months 3 days. S he was the daughter of Abner Bowers and Charlotte Huffman Bowers who ca me to this state from Ross County, Ohio living for a time in Tippecanoe County and then 72 years ago to the day of the death of Mrs. Dunbar they moved to Montgomery County where she resided until the day of her death. S he was unite din marriage to Lewis Dunbar on Oct 19, 1856 or 60 years a go this coming Oct.  To this home God gave 6 children, two of which son a nd daughter have preceded their mother to the spirit world, one of which died in early childhood and Alice Strain who departed this life almost 27 years ago, leaving one son and one daughter. Three boys and one girl are living: Silas Dunbar of Crawfordsville, Morton Dunbar of Crawfordsville, Charles Birdell Dunbar of Darlington and Martha Burk of Decatur.  There are 17 living grandchildren and 9 greats.  Three brothers and one sister of Mrs. Dunbar are still living. They are Abram Bowers and Wm. Bowers of Darlington, Silas Bowers of Crawfordsville and Charlotte Girt of Flora, Ind. Mrs. Dunbar's sickness began with a very severe case of Lagrippe which left her in such a condition she has been confined to her bed f or the past 3 years and 8 months when god saw fit to call her to a land beyond. About 28 or 30 years ago, Mrs. Dunbar accepted Christ and united with the church of the Brethren at White Church. The beauties of her christian character, her faith in God and her devotion to her home can best be told by those who lived nearest her. The children have lost the loving touch of a mother's hand and the husband has lost a companion who has stood by him through almost 60 years of toil, and strife and trials.  May the union be complete in eternity. The funeral services were conducted at the home, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. Rarrick of White Church. Burial at Green Lawn Cemetery. The singers were Mesdames Kendall and Hiatt and Homer Miller and Rev. Martin. The pallbearers were 6 grandsons. Those from a distance were: Perry & Austin Bowers, C.L. Dunbar and wife, Porter & Lucille Dunbar, Silas Bowers & family Crawfordsville; Mrs. Lottie Hos s, New Market; Rettie Dunbar and Mrs. Neil Evans and Frank Bowers, Frankfort; Newt Lease, St. Joe, Ill; Mrs. Jane Smith, Lora Shannon and wife, Flora, Lloyd Bowers and wife, Lafayette; Homer Strain, Wingate; Wm. Ticen and family, Colfax. and Fannie Dunbar, Wabash. – kbz
