WAYNETOWN, Ind. (CNS) – John R. Dukes, 68, died Saturday (Oct. 4, 1969) at his home seven miles southwest of Waynetown. He had been ill for six months. Born March 21, 1901, near Milford, he was the son of Jed and Media Sherrill Dukes. He was married Feb. 6, 1929 at Crawfordsville to Mabel Rogers, who survives. Mr. Dukes was a farmer and had moved to Indiana in 1927. He was a member of the Wallace Christian Church and the Modern Woodmen Lodge. He had attended school at Milford. Other survivors include a son, John R. of Victoria, Tex.; a brother, Sherrill of Watseka; a sister, Miss Edith Dukes of Stockland; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. G. C. DeNeal will officiate. Burial will be in Bonebrake Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. – jlr
