John C. Duckworth a resident of Crawfordsville for about half a century, passed away at his home, 707 E. Market this (Tuesday) afternoon about 1:45 o'clock. Mr. Duckworth had been ill for about two months and while his death was not unexpected, yet it comes as a sad shock to a wide circle of friends in this city and county. For three weeks he had been bedfast. Mr. Duckworth was 74 years of age. He was a native of Ky and came to this city in 1852. Mr. Duckworth followed his trade that of carpenter and contractor, with no little success and his business grew to generous proportions. Besides a widow, who was Miss Elizabeth Lasley, he is survived by five children: WE Duckworth of Fayetteville, Ark; Mrs. Hannah Peterson and Dr. Frank Duckworth of Oklahoma; and Mary and Joseph Duckworth of Crawfordsville. All his children and his widow were at the bedside when death came. Harry W. Duckworth is a nephew of the decedent. Mr. Duckworth was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of this city. Funeral arrangements will be made Wednesday.

LF Marshall of Bloomfield will officiate and burial will be made in Oak Hill. The following will act as pall bearers: GB Lockett; George Barnes; Richard McCampbell; James Kelly; Homer McKinney and Robert Adams. Miss May Klein will sing. Through an oversight the name of Mrs. Ruth Beatty, a surviving daughter of Mr. Duckworths was omitted from the living members of the family published Tuesday. There are six children living. - kbz
