John Kenneth “Kenney” Doyel, 65, of 1107 W. Pike St., a Crawfordsville businessman for 26 years, died this morning in Culver Hospital. He had suffered a heart attack Sunday morning. Mr. Doyel owned and operated Kenney’s Shoes in downtown Crawfordsville, for 23 years at 207 E. Main St. and since September 1972 at 125 E. Main. He also formerly owned Fashion Shoes at 113 S. Washington St. Mr. Doyel was former manager of the Holiday Inn of Crawfordsville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 50, Commandery, Shrine and OES. He was a 1927 graduate of New Market High School. He was born near New Market May 2, 1909, a son of John and Annabelle Reeves Doyel. He was married in 1940 to Dolly A Buser of Indianapolis. Surviving are the widow; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda of Darien, Conn.; two brothers, Paul of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Claude of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and two granddaughters, Julie and Dana. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. James Renard officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. – jlr
